Carol C. Adelman, Dr. P.H., Senior Fellow & Director
Over the past 30 years, Dr. Adelman has served as director, consultant, and member in numerous non-profit organizations, including the Center for International Private Enterprise of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Atlantic Council, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the American Red Cross. She is president of Capital Partners for Education, an educational charity that provides scholarships and mentors for low income students in the Washington, D.C. area. Her experience with the federal government includes working with the Office of Economic Opportunity and the United States Agency for International Development, where she served as a Presidential appointee heading U.S. foreign aid programs to Asia, the Middle East, and Central and Eastern Europe when the Berlin Wall fell. Adelman holds a masters and a doctorate degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University; a masters degree in foreign service from Georgetown University; and a bachelors degree from the University of Colorado, including a year’s study at the University of Bonn in Germany.

Heidi Metcalf Little, M.P.P., Senior Fellow & Deputy Director
For over 15 years, Heidi R. Metcalf Little has worked extensively in both domestic and international policy arenas. She has taken a leading role in developing policy, philanthropic granting strategies, and public-private partnerships addressing global issues including HIV/AIDS, anti-human trafficking and disaster relief, as well as domestic issues such as foster care, workforce development, and public safety. Most recently, Mrs. Metcalf Little served as Chief of Staff in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' (HHS) Administration for Children and Families. In this role, she was responsible for staff supervision, budget and executive program management and policy coordination for the $50 billion agency. From 2005 to 2008, Mrs. Metcalf Little served as the Vice President and Director of Public Private Partnerships for Geneva Global Inc, a global leader in international philanthropic advising. She was the founding director of Geneva Global's Washington, DC office. Mrs. Metcalf Little is a graduate of the University of Virginia and received her Masters in Public Policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.

Jeremiah Norris, Senior Fellow
Before joining Hudson, Mr. Norris was senior director for operations and international affairs with the WebMD Foundation. He was senior adviser for the Harvard Medical School’s international programs for four years, and served as the director of USAID’s Europe Bureau health office under President George H. W. Bush. Earlier he had served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Colombia and was a Peace Corps headquarters staff member in Washington, DC.

Patricia Miller, M.A., Editor
Patricia Miller began serving as Editor of the Center for Global Prosperity’s annual Index of Global Philanthropy in 2008. She works with the Index contributors to develop stories and articles for the Index, serves as the primary editor of all Index content, and works to ensure accurate data collection in accordance with the Index methodology. Ms. Miller is responsible for the continuity and editorial quality of the report.
Ms. Miller is an editorial consultant with extensive experience editing, writing, and managing large compendium reports in the areas of international development and private-sector solutions to global challenges. Her clients have included Resources for the Future, the Commercial Market Strategies Project, and the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Ms. Miller is the former Editor-in-Chief of National Journal’s American Healthline series of daily health policy briefings, where she managed a staff of 10 writers and editors in a news-oriented, deadline-driven atmosphere. She also served as Director of Writing and Research for Catholics for Choice, where she designed, conducted and wrote policy studies, provided policy analysis, and managed a research department focusing on issue of access to women’s health care, and served as Editor of Conscience magazine. She has more than 10 years experience as a substantive editor and report manager, and has been published extensively in the area of women’s access to health care.
Yulya Spantchak, Research Fellow
Ms. Spantchak officially joined CGP staff in December of 2008. She holds a B.A. from Boston University where she double majored in Biology with a specialization in Neuroscience and Psychology. Additionally, she is currently working on her thesis for her 2009 M.A. degree in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University. The summer prior to joining Hudson, Ms. Spantchak worked abroad as a client assessment research fellow in Georgia and Ukraine for FINCA International, a prominent microfinance organization. Born in western Ukraine, Yulya is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian.

Kacie Marano Executive Assistant
Ms. Marano officially joined CGP staff in July 2009. She holds a M.A from The American University in Washington D.C. where she majored in International Relations. Prior to joining Hudson, she spent time doing research in Kathmandu, Nepal for her Master’s thesis on how small organizations are able to navigate in the larger International NGO world of funding. Ms. Marano joins the Hudson Institute with a wide experience living abroad in Gabon, United Arab Emirates, Australia and the Caribbean.
